Sioux Falls – Zella M. Weidenbach, 92, went to her heavenly home Thursday, December 7 at Sanford Hospital.  Funeral service will be Monday, December 11 at 10:30 am at Salem United Church of Christ in Parkston.  Visitation will be Sunday, December 10 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Salem United Church of Christ in Parkston.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Zella was born June 30, 1925 to Leonard and Esther (Hatenborg) Stevens near Mitchell, SD.  She attended and graduated from Mitchell High School and Dakota Wesleyan University.  She taught Home Economics in Centerville and Parkston.  She was united in marriage to Marvin Weidenbach on August 17, 1952 in Mitchell.  The couple lived in Parkston where Zella was the Home Ec teacher at Parkston High School until her retirement in 1978.  Zella was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and ladies aide, enjoyed playing golf and was an avid  Bridge player.  She also enjoyed watching sports, embroidering and attending her grandchildren’s activities.  Some of her best years were helping Marvin driving truck for Weidenbach Contruction Company.

Grateful for having shared her life are 5 children:  Richard (Lois) Weidenbach of Parkston; Linda (William) Roth of Salem, SD; Steve Weidenbach of Parkston; and Byron (Marilyn) Weidenbach of Brandon, SD; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Esther; husband, Marvin; a daughter, Dianne Bachman; a granddaughter, Andrea Roth Boeve; a sister, Rita Grohs; and 2 brothers, Hubert and Myron Stevens.
