Obituary of Joyce Ann Blumel

   Lake Andes - Joyce Ann Blumel, 83, died at Lake Andes Healthcare Center in Lake Andes on Monday, January 8, 2018. Memorial service will be Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes with visitation an hour prior to service. Burial will be in St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery in Nebraska City, NE at a later date. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes.

   Joyce Ann Blumel was born on January 1, 1935 to Robert and Mina (Kastner) Funke in Nebraska City, NE. She graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1952 and attended Peru State in Peru, NE. She worked as bookkeeper at various car dealerships in Nebraska City. On August 8, 1955, she married William "Bill" Blumel at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Nebraska City. The couple moved to Omaha, NE where Joyce worked as bookkeeper at Natelson's Clothing Store. In 1998, they moved to the north bay area near Pickstown, SD. Bill died on November 6, 2014. Joyce enjoyed crafts, creating things, crocheting, fishing with Bill, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes and an extension group in Lake Andes. She died on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Lake Andes Healthcare Center in Lake Andes at the age of 83.

   She is survived by her daughter, Linda Blumel and husband, Ron Finkel of Scottsdale, AZ, son, Daniel Blumel of Omaha, NE, 2 brothers, Thomas (Dorothy) Funke of Nebraska City, NE and Steven (Dottie) Funke of Omaha, NE, 2 granddaughters, Paula Jean (Nathan) Thurston of Rathdrum, ID and Sydney Blumel of Omaha, NE, 2 great-grandsons, Landon and Grahm Thurston of Rathdrum, ID and daughter-in-law, Heather Blumel of Omaha, NE.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, David, and brother, Robert.
