Mitchell – Alice Kost, 92, went to her heavenly home Friday, March 24 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 29 at 11:00 am at Salem United Church of Christ in Parkston with visitation beginning an hour prior to the service. Alice was born November 16, 1924 to Henry and Lydia (Knodel) Herrboldt in Menno, SD. She attended a country school near her parents farm and Menno High School. She was united in marriage to Edmund Kost on February 1, 1945 in Menno. The couple farmed near Parkston, SD until 1979 when they retired and moved into town. She moved to Mitchell, SD in 2004 and spend the last 8 years at Countryside Living. Alice was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Parkston where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the ladies aide. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as canning and fishing. Grateful for having shared her life are her sister, Cleva (Norbert) Wenzel of Parkston and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund; a daughter, Carol; 2 brothers, Willard and Don Herrboldt; and a sister, Gerty Aman.
