Obituary of Norma Jean Van Gorp

   Stickney - Norma Jean Van Gorp, 85, died at Good Samaritan Society in Corsica on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Funeral service will be at United Methodist Church in Stickney at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 8, 2018 with burial following in Silver Ridge Cemetery in Stickney. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 5 - 7 PM at United Methodist Church in Stickney with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Stickney.

   Norma Jean Van Gorp was born on October 7, 1932 in Corsica, SD to Elmer and Edith (Brown) Putzier. She graduated from Corsica High School and erned her Teacher's Certificate from South State Teacher's College in Springfield, SD. On June 4, 1953, she was united in marriage to Gordon Van Gorp in Corsica. They moved to a farm near Stickney where they remained until moving into Stickney in 1993. Gordon died on May 11, 2016. Norma was a member of United Methodist Church in Stickney, United Methodist Woman's Mission Group, Legion Auxiliary, Red Hatters, and was a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, playing cards, bingo, fishing, and spending many winters in Texas with Gordon. She died on February 4, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in Corsica at the age of 85.

   She is survived by her 5 children, Diane (Ronald) Reimintz of Mt. Vernon, SD, Doug (Cheri) Van Gorp of Stickney, SD, Steve (Julie) Van Gorp of Stickney, SD, Randy (Jennifer) Van Gorp of Stickney, SD, and Marcia (Tom) Coleman of Great Bend, KS, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister, Betty Hollmann of Armour, SD and brother, Ronald Putzier of Sioux Falls, SD.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Bruce, brother-in-law, Harold Hollmann, and sister-in-law, Janice Putzier.
