Obituary of Verna M. Wood

Wagner – Verna M. Wood, 82, went to her heavenly home Friday, February 16 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. There will be a memorial graveside service at a later time.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes

Verna was born September 13, 1935 to Glen and Fern (Schultz) Myers in Wagner, SD. She grew up in Wagner and attended school there. She was united in marriage to Richard A. Wood in August 1955 in Lake Andes, SD. The couple made their home on a farm near Armour, SD until the early 1960s when they moved to Yankton, SD. Verna became a Certified Nurses Assistant and worked at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton for 27 years. She enjoyed bowling and flowers and was a Girl Scout Leader. 

Grateful for having shared her life are her 3 children: Robert J. (Sheryl) Wood of Yankton; Carol (Jerry) Woodward of Yankton and Kimberly K. (Julio) Rivera of Pensacola, FL; 9 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and 3 siblings: Lowell (MaryAnn) Myers of Rapid City, SD; Barbara (Lars) Sorlien of Lake Andes; and Roger (Cindy) Myers of Yankton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; a daughter in infancy, Glenda K.; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
