From Sharon, I know in my heart that Wes’s legacy was He Loved the Lord, had a personal relationship with Him, and served Him to the best of his ability!

I’m Juanita, Wes’s daughter. I appreciated my father’s loving spirit. I am grateful for all the kindness he demonstrated to everyone in his path. He prayed for me probably multiple times each day and I’m sure that has had a positive impact on my life. I’m happy he’s at peace now and passed on with confidence that he had lived a good life.❤️

Working as a night RN, I had the honor and privilege of knowing Wes during his time at Good Sam. He was such a God loving man and enjoyed sharing the Gospel with everyone he met. I never once heard him complain of anything or speak ill of anyone. We talked about God, politics, and our families and he so loved his family and talked about you often. He enjoyed visiting and I will cherish the many conversations we had and that each one concluded with him asking “can I pray for you” and us holding hands in prayer. I will miss greeting him in the evenings but take comfort in knowing he is in the beauty and glory of Heaven that he spoke of so often.

First, I would like to make a correction to the Obituary. Wes worked for “USC” Payroll (University of Southern California) NOT “UCLA”. My mom, Betty, worked at USC for over 25 years and Wes worked there as well. During their retirement years, they both worked for “The American Indian Hour” ministry reaching out to American Indian tribes in the southwest.
Hello! I’m Wes’ stepdaughter, Diane Johnston, now living in Platteville, Colorado with my daughter, Deanna, and son-in-law. Wes became my stepdad when he married my mom, Betty Jensen, in 1962. I had been married to my husband, Dwight, for two years and we had a four-month-old son named David. It felt strange to be, at the wedding, holding our baby and watching my mom get married. Wes was much younger than my mom. She loved him and he loved her, so we accepted each other as family. I must admit I didn’t think of him as my “stepdad” in those early years. I guess it was because I was grownup, married and had my own family. I referred to him as my mom’s husband or “Grandpa Wes” to our children. Several years ago, I started saying “stepdad” and it made us both happy.
Like all of us, he was not without faults, but these are WHAT I REMEMBER MOST about Wes:
His smile, and above all, his love for God and reading his Bible. He had a fantastic memory for scripture and often quoted Bible verses for every situation. He was so friendly, loved everyone and could talk to anyone, always ready to share Jesus and the message of salvation. He was kind and truly cared about people, always ready to help someone or meet a need.
I’m thankful for the many years Wes helped care for my grandad until he went to be with the Lord at the age of 101. Wes was a very loving husband and took good care of my mom until the Lord took her home at the age of 83. My mom and Wes had been married 38 years when she passed away 24 years ago.
After my mom passed away, we continued to keep in close contact with Wes in L. A. and during times he lived in Utah. When he lived in L.A., we got together for holidays, usually with our son. Often, we met weekly for dinner with our best friend, Reggie, who passed away last year. I know he was among the first greeters in Heaven.
Eight years ago, when I needed help taking care of my husband due to his medical issues, Wes was right there to help me. In May of 2017, my husband and I moved to Colorado to live with our daughter’s family. Three months later, the Lord took my husband to heaven. About the same time Wes moved back to Utah. In 2018 he went to live in South Dakota with his nephew, Mark. and his wife. In 2021 he moved to the Good Samaritan Society Home in Scotland, SD. He said he liked it and did well there. All through these moves, Wes continued to call me every month or so. Whenever he called, he was praising the Lord for His goodness and encouraging me. He never complained about any problems or health issues, only praised God for taking care of him. He ALWAYS ended EVERY phone call with prayer for me and all our family. I will sure miss those calls, but I’m happy that the Lord took him to his heavenly home. Although we feel sad, we are rejoicing that Wes is where he wanted to be, at peace and out of pain.
May the Lord bless all Wes’ family and friends with peace and comfort at this time of loss.

Dennis Sayer posted a condolence

Dear Wesley and family. I am Dennis Sayer. Diane Johnston is my Aunt. Wesley is her stepdad. I first met Wesley at a family get-together. I was probably under 10 years old and I will never forget how we met. We kids were playing a brand new Ouija board in the kids' room. We were asking it all kinds of silly questions and it gave us silly answers until it decided to stop answering and just go hog wild sweeping all over the board. Wesley was at the door of the room and said something to get our attention. I don’t remember exactly what he said, I will tell you I was interested in what he said. We put the game away. Wesley gave me a bible and a few books to take home. Dad would not let me keep them, oh well. The seed had been planted. Thank you, Wesley Williams.

Wes and I spent so much time together during the dressing changes at Good Samaritan. We discussed so many things…religion, politics, raising a family, our blessings. He was the most “thoughtful” man I’ve ever known! Truly thinking things through. I had the privilege of reading to him from the Bible on Monday just before his last journey on Wednesday. Wes will always be a source of inspiration and compassion for me! God bless Wes!!
